The Lion Way
Wrestling teaches a lot more than takedowns. For our Lions, we want every wrestler, from first-year rookies to our most experienced kids, to leave the mat stronger, tougher, and more confident than when they arrived. These five truths guide how we coach, how we practice, and how we compete.
The Pride Code
Lions work the hardest
When we step on the mat, we are ready - our bodies are strong and our minds are tough. We've worked harder than our opponents and we know it. We come to practice ready to listen and work hard. And we never give up - no matter what.
Lions always attack first
We are more aggressive than our opponents. We take the first shot and relentlessly pursue our opponents. We keep them constantly on defense.
You can't hold a Lion down
We are masters at escaping from bottom. We control our opponents' hands and never stop moving. As soon as we escape, we're right back on the attack.
Lions always fight fair
We always practice good sportsmanship. We wrestle tough and hard, but we never try to hurt anyone. Win or lose, we shake hands, keep our heads high and stay positive.
Lions focus on getting better, not winning
Every match gives us feedback on how we can improve, and every practice gives us the opportunity to do so. We love getting better more than we like winning and are confident that with consistency, the wins will come.
For Parents
You can help by reinforcing these truths at home. After a match, ask what your wrestler learned, not just whether they won. Download a printable copy of the 5 Truths to keep on the fridge or in a wrestling bag!
