McLean Youth Leader Scholarships

McLean Youth Athletics, Inc (MYA) annually funds Leader Scholarship Awards to local high school juniors and seniors who participated in the MYA Sports Program as a player, coach or referee and exhibited exemplary personal characteristics.

Eligibility

The MYA Leader scholarships are financial awards presented to boys and girls who meet the following criteria and are selected by the MYA Scholarship Committee:

• Participated as a player, coach and\or referee in the MYA sports programs;
• Exhibited exemplary behavior including leadership, sportsmanship & service to others during their participation in MYA sports and in school; and
• Complete and submit an application for consideration together with an essay of 150 words or less addressing any matter pertaining to their experience with MYA, its impact on them or related matter.

The recipients will be announced at the MYA March Madness celebration in March, 2008. In addition, each recipient will receive a commemorative plaque and the individual’s name will be added to a permanent plaque that is maintained at the McLean Community Center.
